For scientific publishers on Aries Editorial Manager

Find conflict-free reviewers without leaving Editorial Manager

Prophy's Referee Finder runs inside Aries Editorial Manager. Surface qualified, conflict-checked reviewers from a research base of 60M+ author profiles, then send invitations from the system your editors already use, with no second tool and no export-and-paste.

Used by 70+ scientific publishers and research funders, including:

Oxford University Press
SAGE Publishing
Taylor & Francis
Karger Publishers
Wolters Kluwer
PNAS
EMBO Press
The Royal Society

The integration

Referee Finder, where your editors already work

The workflow lives where editors already work. Prophy's Referee Finder plugs into Aries Editorial Manager, so finding the right reviewer is part of handling the manuscript — not a detour into a separate system.

  • Recommendations inside EM. Reviewer suggestions appear against the manuscript in Editorial Manager, ranked by semantic similarity to the submission.
  • Profiles built automatically. Prophy creates a structured reviewer profile for each candidate, so editors filter and compare without hunting across databases.
  • Invitations from one place. Once a reviewer is selected, automated invitations go out directly from EM, with no disruption to the workflow your team already follows.

A wider, conflict-checked pool than your in-house database

The two reasons editorial teams add Prophy to Editorial Manager.

For editorial departments that need high-quality peer reviewers quickly, Prophy provides access to a larger, well-organized pool of expert reviewers — including emerging and early-career researchers your reviewer database hasn't reached yet.

Co-authorship and co-affiliation conflicts are detected as reviewers are selected, so the integrity check happens in-house and inline — not after the invitation has gone out.

Built on years of editor-workflow integrations

Prophy already connects to the systems editors run. Alongside Aries Editorial Manager, the Referee Finder integrates with ScholarOne and eJournal Press — part of a standing commitment to bring peer-review tooling to the editor's workflow rather than asking editors to come to it.

Questions editors ask

Does Prophy work with our Editorial Manager configuration?

Yes. The Referee Finder integration surfaces recommendations and sends invitations inside standard Editorial Manager workflows; we confirm the specifics for your setup during onboarding.

How is manuscript data handled, and do you train on it?

Your data belongs to you, and you can delete it at any time or set up lifecycle rules. We also don't train any models on your data.

What do editors have to learn?

Little. Suggestions appear against the manuscript in EM and invitations send from EM, so editors keep working the way they already do.

Do you integrate with anything besides Editorial Manager?

Yes. ScholarOne and eJournal Press, and we have an API with detailed documentation, if you want to integrate with an in-house EMS.

How defensible is the conflict-of-interest output?

Every reviewer choice carries the co-authorship / co-affiliation basis behind the flag, so the integrity check is auditable rather than a black box.

How is this different from our current reviewer database?

Prophy reaches a larger, continuously maintained pool, including recently active and early-career experts that a static in-house database misses.
