Find conflict-free reviewers without leaving eJournalPress
Prophy's Referee Finder runs inside eJournalPress (eJP). A Search Prophy link returns ranked reviewer candidates on an eJP results page, and candidates you mark as referees in Prophy show up back in eJP, with no export-and-paste.

The integration
Referee Finder, where your editors already work
The workflow lives where editors already work. Referee Finder plugs into eJP, so finding the right reviewer is part of handling the manuscript, not a detour into a separate system.
- Search Prophy from eJP. Once Prophy is switched on, a Search Prophy link sits among the quick-search links on the reviewer assignment screen.
- Results inside eJP. Candidates come back on an eJP results page with a Prophy Score column. Anyone who already has an eJP account is matched to it, with their eJP data and statistics.
- Selection goes back into eJP. Mark candidates as referees in Prophy and they appear in eJP when the page reloads, so the editor never retypes or exports a name.

A wider, conflict-checked pool than your in-house database
The two reasons editorial teams add Prophy to eJournalPress.
For editorial departments that need high-quality peer reviewers quickly, Prophy provides access to a larger, well-organized pool of expert reviewers, including emerging and early-career researchers your reviewer database hasn't reached yet.
Co-authorship and co-affiliation conflicts are detected as reviewers are selected, so the integrity check happens inline, not after the invitation has gone out.
The full view
The full Referee Finder view, one click away
Each candidate's P icon opens their Prophy profile, and Run Search on Prophy re-runs the search in Referee Finder itself. That opens the complete candidate list for the manuscript, with everything an editor needs to refine it.
- Conflict checks you can see. Co-authorship and shared affiliations are flagged against the manuscript's authors (the last five years by default, adjustable), and so are retracted articles.
- Filters editors use. h-index, academic age, article count, journal impact factor, countries, and concept groups you can boost or ignore.
- Your own reviewer pool. Upload your reviewer database as an author group to search within it or highlight its members, and save the settings you reuse.
Change gender, location, experience level, and broadness of expertise of proposed referees.
In production inside eJournalPress
Referee Finder is a live integration with eJournalPress. eJP was our first editorial-system integration, and it has been in production for years. Prophy matches each manuscript against 60M+ author profiles, so the candidates in front of your editors come from far beyond their own networks.
See Referee Finder inside your eJournalPress workflow.
We'll run Prophy on one of your own manuscripts and show the reviewer suggestions where your editors already work.

Questions editors ask
Is the eJournalPress integration in production?
Yes. eJP was our first editorial-system integration, and Referee Finder has run in production inside it for years.
How is manuscript data handled, and do you train on it?
Your data belongs to you, and you can delete it at any time or set up lifecycle rules. We also don't train any models on your data.
How do we switch it on?
eJP requests the connection for your journal, and we approve it. We confirm the specifics for your setup during onboarding.
Is this the same Referee Finder as the standalone tool?
Yes. It is the same Referee Finder and the same matching engine, available inside eJP.
Do you integrate with anything besides eJournalPress?
Yes. ScholarOne Manuscripts and Aries Editorial Manager, and we have an API with detailed documentation, if you want to integrate with an in-house EMS.
How defensible is the conflict-of-interest output?
In the full Referee Finder view, every candidate shows the co-authorship and shared-affiliation flags behind the check, so it is auditable rather than a black box.
What do editors have to learn?
Little. Search Prophy is one more quick-search link in eJP, results come back in eJP, and referees marked in Prophy show up in eJP, so editors keep working the way they already do.
